SCAC is a rare malignancy, with the majority (90%) of cases driven by HPV infection.¹ While treatment advances have been made, including the adoption of carboplatin and paclitaxel as first-line chemotherapy based on the InterAAct study (ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02051868), patients with inoperable locally recurrent or metastatic SCAC continue to face limited therapeutic options and high unmet clinical need.2,3 Historically, systemic chemotherapy has been associated with modest survival outcomes and considerable toxicity, highlighting the importance of identifying novel strategies that can improve both efficacy and tolerability.
